Day-tour to Lan Ha Bay

Situated to the south and east of Cat Ba Town, Lan Ha Bay features hundreds of karst and limestone formations that are just as gorgeous as those of its more famous bigger brother; Ha Long Bay. While in terms of geology and conservation, Lan Ha is considered part of the wider Ha Long Bay area, it distinguishes itself from Ha Long proper by being far more off the beaten track, with smaller tourist crowds and fewer boats ploughing the waters here. There are also far more animals here than further north in Ha Long, and lucky travellers might even catch a glimpse of the dolphins and seals who live here.
This tour consists of two modules, one that includes cycling and one that includes kayaking. Both are listed below.

Option 1

Full-day Cruise and Cycling (L)

This option is great for those wishing to visit Lan Ha Bay but also spend some time exploring Cat Ba Island by land. Depending on the location of your hotel on Cat Ba, you will either be collected there or meet us at the office between 8am and 8:30am.
From here you board a traditional junk and start your cruise around the breath-taking karst and limestone formations of the bay. After about 1,5 hours of cruising, you’ll be ped off at Viet Hai Harbour and bicycle for roughly 10 kilometres through dense rainforest and over hills and through tunnels, until you finally arrive in Viet Hai Village proper. This is one of the oldest communities on all of Cat Ba, and you will see many rice fields, fruit gardens and traditional houses during your visit here. Next we enjoy a seafood lunch on the boat while travelling to Monkey Island, where you’ll be free to swim, explore and take the short hike to the very top of the island.
Finally, enjoy your relaxing cruise back to Cat Ba where your trip with us will end.

Option 2

Full-day Cruise and Kayak (L)

For those not as interested in cycling the interior of Cat Ba, this option is the better choice. You’ll be collected or met on Cat Ba between 8 and 8:30am and immediately board the boat to begin your cruise of the bay. After an hour and a half of cruising, you switch from the boat to kayaks which you will use to explore the Dark & Light Cave before leaving the kayaks behind and enjoying a delicious seafood lunch on-board.
Then you continue the cruise by heading to Three Peaches Beach for some swimming and snorkeling, before finally heading to Monkey Island to round out the day with some rest and relaxation before we take you back to Cat Ba Island.
